Research has shown that a variety of musical activities can help refugee students recover from past trauma, provide new vehicles to communicate emotions, maintain students’ connection to their home culture, and contribute to their sense of belonging in a new culture. Revival School teachers and mentors create a receptive environment of learning from students who are a unique bridge to their home cultures. We host a monthly Open House and three Talent and Fashion Shows per year where students can share their cultural treasures from back home. This empowers them to make their unique contributions to the multi-cultural conversation of St. Louis.
